The YABT participates in biotech entrepreneur events throughout the Latin American region. Experiencias de Empresas Biotecnologicas de America Latina y el Caribe was held on October 10, 2005 Bogotá, Colombia. Mr. Roy Thomasson, CEO, participated in this panel discussion representing the YABT. The presentations and discussions dealt with current biotech issues facing entrepreneurs in Latin America.
The second biotech entrepreneur event that YABT participated in is the III Latinamerican Bioentrepreneurs Meeting on December 1-2 of 2005. This meeting was held in Santiago, Chile with Mr. Roy Thomasson representing the YABT once again. The event offered its participants the experience and the knowledge of world leaders, which presented details of new technologies and information in subjects such as:
- Management and Innovation in biotechnology
- Development in Bio-incubators
- Evolution of the Human Capital
- Intellectual Property
- Promotion of the international Investment in biotechnology
- Seed Funding / Risk capital / Joint Ventures
- Cases presentation in the sectors: Forestry, Agriculture and Food, Health, Mining, Environmental and Aquaculture
- Regional Cooperation
YABT participation in events such as these has fostered much interest in the biotech sector and potential for improvement within this sector. The contacts and insight gained from the participation in these bioentrepreneur events was critical in determining the areas where YABT can play a role in the near future.
